The small village of LAGUNAS in Honduras had no school until recently. Aware of the importance of education for their children, the villagers had driven a few wooden posts into the ground and placed a wooden roof on top, which served as their school: without chairs, tables, or a blackboard.
A socially-minded man named Jorge approached us with a request to help the children and parents of Lagunas build a more stable structure for a future classroom.
The “Happy Bambini” group took action, and with the help of some parents and local masons from the village, a brick structure with a zinc roof was built, equipped with chairs, tables, a blackboard, and even two toilets for boys and girls.
Due to severe storms in 2016, construction progressed a bit slower than planned, but since February 2017, the children have happily been attending their new school.
On April 28, the school was officially inaugurated by the local mayor.
We sincerely thank everyone who contributed to making this project a reality!
