At the beginning of March, we received a special request to help the Technical Institute 5 de Noviembre: to build a long wall around the school to provide protection and security for students and teachers while they are at school, keeping out thieves and malicious individuals.
The school has more than 1,000 students. The wire fence around the school was in very poor condition.
The work began on May 3. Together with the parents, we were able to raise funds to build 200 meters of the wall, but 240 meters are still missing. However, the long-awaited start of construction has sparked a sense of community. Many people donated, sometimes even bags of cement. Some people in the community are now trying to raise funds to complete the project.
The senior students helped with the delivery of materials. In just one month, 200 meters of the wall were built.
We thank Xiomara, David, Lourdes, Nora, and Armando for coordinating and their desire to make the school safer: it was an excellent collaboration.
We wish the students continued success!
