Nepal: Khathmandu

In early March, we began our first renovation work. We started with the nursery, where we installed new carpeting and repainted the walls. Next, we moved on to the classrooms, repairing and repainting old, broken desks. In all nine classrooms, the 60-year-old blackboards were replaced with easy-to-clean whiteboards. During this process, we made an unexpected discovery: behind one of the old blackboards, we found a hidden niche containing an old Hindu statue. This statue is now proudly displayed in the school’s temple.

To create something even more valuable for the students, we established a school library. With the help of pupils and parents, we cleared out a storage room, filled in holes in the walls, applied fresh paint, and installed simple shelves. The remaining donations were used to purchase books. The library is now complete and open to all who are eager to learn and love to read. You can follow the progress of the renovation in the picture gallery.
